$5,000 Goal

Our Mission at the Gafney Library is to provide the Gafney community with an inclusive resource center providing programs, services, and collections that promotes literacy, fostering creativity and lifelong learning. The library preserves and promotes universal access to a wide range of human knowledge, experience, information and ideas in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The Gafney Library was established in 1925 and is located in the heart of the small village of Sanbornville, NH. It serves residents in the rural towns of Wakefield and Brookfield with a combined population of 6,377 (2024 US Census). The straight-line distance between the centers of these neighboring towns is five miles.

The Gafney operates on a small budget that is 84% publicly funded by the towns of Wakefield and Brookfield, both of which fund operations primarily through a local property tax. The remaining 16% of our budget is covered by the fundraising efforts of the Board of Trustees, Friends of the Library, donations, and grants.

Our vision is to be the welcoming heart of our community- a place where people of all ages and backgrounds come to gather, learn, and grow. With your support, we can continue strengthening connections, expanding access to knowledge and opportunity, and ensuring that our library remains a vital resource for generations to come.

Together, we can sustain and enhance the essential role libraries play in communities across the state.
