Global Entomology Coalition

A nonprofit organization

Our mission is to inspire worldwide environmental stewardship by fostering a cultural shift in the perception of insects through research, education, and conservation. By developing collaboration across borders, opening research to the public, and expanding our understanding of insects and their roles through exciting educational experiences, we can accelerate entomological knowledge and open the door to safeguarding our planet’s most vital stewards.

GEC is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and we have a strict no-compromise funding policy: we don't take money from pesticide manufacturers (one of the largest funders of entomology) or other organizations which create products or services that harm the environment or use our mission as a means of performative greenwashing... which means we rely heavily on individual support. In 2025, 79% of our funding came from individual contributors and program participants and hosts. The rest came from NH Charitable Trusts.

In our first year as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, on a budget less than the electric bill for most organizations in 2025, we were able to:

  • Provide over $10,000 in direct support to field station and conservation research operations while providing much needed resources and equipment to support current conservation projects and kickstart several new research projects on 4 continents.
  • Engage with almost 900 people directly through our in-person public education, research, and conservation programs (a large majority in NH), and over 4,500 people virtually.
  • Contribute over 4,000 species records of insects, spiders, millipedes, and centipedes on 5 different continents. Several in ranges not previously recorded.
  • Contributed to the discovery of at least 6 new species (2 new genera) of Phasmid (stick insect) - publication to come soon

All of which has given us pages upon pages of biodiversity data, a better understanding of ecosystem dynamics, and species records and range expansions that would have gone unknown without your support.

So imagine what we can do with even more support! Help us make a difference today!
