• The Crunch: Food costs have jumped 30% since 2019. In the Kearsarge Region, 1 in 10 neighbors face food insecurity, and a typical NH family falls short of basic expenses by nearly $2,000 a year.

• The Vulnerability: NH produces only 3% of the food it consumes, meaning the average meal travels 1,500 miles.

• The Farm Crisis: NH has lost 80% of its farmland over the last 60 years, and the average age of remaining farmers is 59.
