Programs and HVAC
We are excited to provide more free programs for the community and extend the new HVAC system to the 2nd and 3rd floors of the
Littleton Community House!
Thanks to the generosity of last year's donors, we were able to complete the installation of a low-visibility, high-velocity HVAC system on the 1st floor of the Community Center House. With this year’s NH Gives campaign, we hope to add to our program budget to provide more free programs for the whole community and to defray some of the costs of the HVAC system.
Everyone attending events on the 1st floor of the Community House since the HVAC system was installed last summer has noticed that the room temperatures are much more comfortable! It was cool during those last warm days of summer and, after some adjustments, it was plenty warm throughout our long and chilly winter. Now we’d like to extend that HVAC system to the 2nd and 3rd floors to help all of our renters enjoy comfortable temperatures.
And now that the rooms are more inviting, we plan to expand the number of free programs we offer to the community. Recently, we’ve had free programming from AARP, Cleared to Flourish: Flourish Together, and NH Humanities.
Three major impacts of the new system:
1. Guest comfort → increased use → greater appreciation of the space → increase in revenue.
2. Consistent temperature and humidity levels = maintaining the building in good shape → lower maintenance costs.
3. Fuel-efficient heating and cooling system → lower fuel costs → more funds for programming and maintenance.
Littleton's beautiful Eastman House was built in 1884 and was dedicated to serve as Littleton’s Community Center in 1919. The LCC continues as a meeting place for local government and civic groups, and for community members to use for education, collaboration and celebration! It is a Queen Anne-style building and is on the National and New Hampshire Register of Historic Places, so we work diligently to maintain the historical aspects of the building.
