Moose Mountains Regional Greenways (MMRG) is a nonprofit land trust based in Union, New Hampshire, dedicated to conserving and connecting natural areas across the Moose Mountains region. Founded in 2000 by conservation commissioners and planning board members from six local towns; Brookfield, Farmington, Middleton, Milton, New Durham, and Wakefield, MMRG was established to protect the region’s forests, waterways, wildlife habitats, and scenic landscapes.

Since its inception, MMRG has expanded its service area to include nine communities: Brookfield, Farmington, Middleton, Milton, New Durham, Ossipee, Tuftonboro, Wakefield, and Wolfeboro. Our organization has facilitated the conservation of approximately 4,800 acres through partnerships with landowners, municipalities, and other conservation groups.

Our mission at MMRG is to conserve key natural resource areas in New Hampshire communities and connect them within a permanently protected network of greenways and open space for present and future generations to enjoy. These greenways serve as undeveloped corridors that support wildlife habitats, natural resource protection, and low-impact recreation.

In 2013, MMRG began holding conservation easements, allowing landowners to voluntarily protect their land's natural, productive, or cultural features while retaining ownership. The organization also engages the community through educational programs, workshops, and events aimed at fostering a deeper connection between people and nature.

MMRG acknowledges that the lands we conserve are located on the traditional ancestral homelands of the Abenaki, Pennacook, Wabanaki, and Pequawket Peoples, and we honor their enduring relationship with the land.
