We need your donation to help with construction costs to repair this beautiful, old building. Any contribution, large or small, will directly support these efforts and help protect this important space for our community.

For over 50 years the Marion Gerrish Community Center (MGCC) has helped thousands of people by providing a place for
organizations to gather and do their good works. These organizations consist of support groups, sports teams, social service agencies, older adult gatherings, nonprofits and many more. Nearly 150 organizations utilize the meeting space at the MGCC in a year. All of these organizations are welcome to use the meeting space on a donation basis, no fees charged.

The MGCC has become the “heart” of our community, being connected to many individuals through the organizations that support them.

Beyond providing free meeting space, the MGCC conducts programs that bring the community together and strengthen our connections. Each month, older adults in our community come together to enjoy a movie with popcorn and soda, attend informative presentations, participate in fun activities and entertainment, and receive help with personal electronics at our WiFi Café. The monthly Memory Cafe provides a welcoming space for individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's, or memory loss and their care partners to socialize, share experiences, and find support. We also introduced Golden Pet Companions, where older adults enjoy visits and cuddles with animals from the Greater Derry Humane Society, creating moments of joy and companionship.  These programs provide opportunities for social connection, reduce isolation, and promote active engagement in community life. 

We provide family friendly, community building programs through events like Family Fun Fest and Community Pumpkin Carving. We also have programming for children such as our after-school enrichment program for students at Gilbert H. Hood Middle School, Winter & Spring Vacation Week, sending 15 students of need to summer camp for 2 weeks each summer, and Winter Wiggles which gives physical activity to preschoolers and community for their caregivers.

We also assist and collaborate with nonprofits and service agencies and support them with our What’s the Scoop Around Town event every year.  All of these programs are available to the community at no cost, no membership fees, and no residency requirements.
