$5,000 Goal

Mont Vernon's historic buildings belong to all of us. Your gift during NH Gives is federally tax-deductible.

The Mont Vernon Historic Buildings Foundation is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2024, We were awarded tax-exempt status in 2025 and this is our first fundraiser. Our goal is $5,000.

NH Gives runs for exactly 24 hours. Groups can win prizes throughout the day to add to their totals.  The prizes make it fun for everyone to give and watch the funds increase.

Our Mission is to ensure the buildings Mont Vernon owns are still standing, still usable, and still beautiful for the next generation of residents. No paid staff. No overhead. Just neighbors who refuse to let our town's heritage crumble.

These three buildings are the living heart of Mont Vernon where local government happens, where 250 years of history lives, and where this community still gathers today. They were built by people who had nothing to gain except the pride of leaving something behind for the rest of us.

The McCollom has served Mont Vernon since 1853: first as an academy that drew students from across the region, then as the public elementary school, now as town offices and the police station. After 170 years of near-continuous use, it needs sustained care and upgrades to stay that way.

The Old Library opened in 1909: It was built from the life savings of Sophia Daland, a farmer's daughter who left her entire estate soMont Vernon would always have a place to learn. The town honored her legacy by raising $4 million to build the new Daland Memorial Library. Now her original building needs the same community commitment to protect and improve .

The Town Hall has stood at the heart of Mont Vernon since 1781: Phase 1 of its restoration is fully funded and now underway, focusing on stabilizing and preserving the building's foundation and first floor. As this work progresses, we are making strategic decisions that prepare the building for future restoration phases that are not yet funded. For example, while the floor structure is exposed, we are installing the concrete foundation needed for a future elevator, avoiding significant costs and disruption later.

Detailed plans are already in place to modernize essential systems, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and accessibility improvements. Every donation helps us make wise investments today so future restoration work can be completed more efficiently and affordably tomorrow. Together, we are preserving Mont Vernon's historic Town Hall and preparing it to serve our community for the next 250 years.

Every dollar we raise from donations and grants is a dollar Mont Vernon does not have to pull from local property taxes.

Mont Vernon residents built something worth protecting 250 years ago.

We have one day to prove we agree.

Our ancestors built them.

We protect them.

 Future Mont Vernon deserves them.
