Strengthening Food Systems and Fighting Food insecurity in the Mt. Washington Valley.

Mount Washington Valley Eaters and Growers (MWVEG) works to strengthen the regional food system and increase access to locally grown food through education, communication, collaboration, cooperation, and food access. Our volunteer board, made up of farmers and local food advocates, provides a voice for farmers and connects community members with local food.

In 2020, MWVEG launched the Food for All Local Food Access Fund, addressing food insecurity in Carroll County and adjacent areas. The program serves community members of all income levels, ensuring locally grown food is accessible to families in need.

"Food for all was an absolute lifesaver for me and my children last year. There were weeks when I didn't have anything to use except for the vouchers. It brought some sense of normality to our home."  - 2025 Food for All participant

Since 2019, MWVEG has produced the Local Farm Guide, a comprehensive directory of farms, farmers’ markets, CSAs, and local-food restaurants in our region. This guide increases awareness of local food and strengthens the regional food system.

The Valley has a rich history and heritage of farming and agriculture, adding to the beauty, culture, and environment. MWVEG is guided by a shared passion for local food, farm viability, environmental sustainability, community education, and food access.

2025 marked a transitional year for us. We became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, hired our first independent contractor, and welcomed five additional board members with new ideas and perspectives.

As we move deeper into 2026 with this momentum, we're sharpening our goals and priorities, yet our guiding principles remain: We believe that everyone should have access to nutritious, locally grown food and the opportunity to know where their food comes from.

We envision a future where MWVEG becomes the trusted resource for the access, production, and distribution of high-quality, locally grown food in the Mount Washington Valley and surrounding areas.

To move forward, we're raising $5,000 and we need your help!
