Halloween is a night filled with excitement, imagination, and a sense of belonging. At least it's supposed to be about that. But for many children, they are stuck watching from the dark shadows as other kids have fun because money is tight for the family and this is an expense they can't afford. S.C.A.R.E. (Secondhand Costume Annual Redistribution Effort) was created to ensure that every little ghost and goblin has the opportunity to experience all that magic & mayhem that is part of Halloween.
Through donations collected from the community, S.C.A.R.E. gathers new and gently used costumes which are sorted and then distributed to families all across NH (and beyond) who need a little bit of help...all at no cost! What began as a small local effort has grown into a movement serving many communities you call home. Last year alone, S.C.A.R.E. provided over 1,500 costumes across 10 communities and we have added 4 additional towns in 2026.

- Expanding into new areas helping even more families
- Collect, store, and distribute thousands of costumes
- Increase our capacity to do more with our Haunted Hauler box truck
- Help the environment by keeping costumes out of the landfill and giving them "new life"
When a child picks out a costume they get to take home, it's not simply a costume. It improves their sense of self-worth. It sparks their imagination. It builds connections and friendships because they are part of something now. These are the memories that last a lifetime!
