Who We Are

For over 225 years, The Home for Little Wanderers has helped build stable lives and hopeful tomorrows for children who are abused, neglected or in at-risk circumstances.

The Home’s community-based programs and residences, located throughout New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York, serve more than 15,000 diverse youth and family members every year. Many of these youth are forgotten or overlooked by society and have experienced trauma, violence or shattered family lives. At The Home, we ensure their emotional, social, educational and physical well-being through a wide range of critical services.

Our work is grounded in the belief that every child deserves the chance to thrive. Through more than 30 vital programs encompassing prevention, intervention and long-term support, we ensure youth—from birth to age 26— have the safe surroundings, loving relationships and holistic care they need to live happy, hope-filled lives.

The Home is proud to have a strong and growing presence in New Hampshire, delivering specialized programs that uplift kids and families, respond to crisis, and help young people build independence and long-term stability.

Our Granite State Programs

💚RESIDENTIAL AND YOUNG ADULT SERVICES

Hillsborough Village (Hillsborough)

Hillsborough Village is an innovative “scattered site” housing program that provides safe, stable homes for young adults who have aged out of state care. This program is designed to be an intermediate step between program-based units and independent living, offering young adults autonomy, as well as ongoing support, services and connections. Through partnerships with local landlords, independent units offer a seamless transition for the young person and promote positive long-term outcomes, as residents have an opportunity to work on personal and professional goals, build life skills and financial stability, and save for a place of their own.

Manchester Village – Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project (YHDP) (Manchester)

Manchester Village provides temporary, independent housing for young adults ages 18 to 24 experiencing homelessness who have aged out of state care, prioritizing those with the highest need in select New Hampshire communities. Because the Manchester Village – YHDP Program offers multi-bedroom units, young families can occupy these apartments while they regain their footing and work towards permanent housing. The program also offers life coaching, counseling, parenting support and connections to community resources.

Unity House (Keene)

Unity House is a family- and youth-driven group home serving LGBTQ+ youth ages 14–18, which provides a safe, supportive environment for up to eight young people as they prepare for family reunification, independent living, continued education and long-term self-sufficiency.

💙EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPEUTIC SERVICES

The Wediko School and Camp Wediko (Windsor)

Located on 450 lakefront acres, The Wediko School is a residential treatment center offering therapeutic and educational services for middle and high school aged boys experiencing significant social-emotional, behavioral and educational challenges.

Camp Wediko is a six-week residential summer program for young people ages 8 to 18 that blends individualized clinical supports with traditional camp experiences, helping youth build confidence, make lifelong memories and discover their unique potential.

💛CRISIS RESPONSE AND FAMILY SUPPORT

New Hampshire After-Hours Abuse and Neglect Hotline (Statewide)

In partnership with the Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF), The Home for Little Wanderers operates the statewide after-hours hotline, responding to urgent reports of unsafe living conditions, abuse and violence. Our trained team members speak with foster parents, hospital staff, law enforcement, caregivers and, at times, children in crisis. Each call underscores the critical importance of this work and our shared responsibility to protect children, support families and prevent maltreatment.
