Friends of the Dublin Public Library

A nonprofit organization

The Friends of the Dublin Public Library is a non-profit organization which provides support to the Dublin Public Library. We sponsor special programs and events for the public, raise awareness of our wonderful little library, provide amenities and services as needed, and encourage community support for the library. We supplement the funds given by town. As libraries and small towns are experiencing funding challenges, the supplemental funding by the Friends is heightened.

The Dublin Public Library is celebrating its 125th Anniversary in the building and location where it exists today. And we proudly can state that we are older than that and hold a national "first": The Dublin Juvenile Library (instituted in 1822) was the FIRST, FREE, PUBLICLY-FUNDED JUVENILE LIBRARY in the United States! Our little stone library stood fast when it protected the town from a devastating fire in 1908 - when it had only been open for six years! We have a new director with a passion for accessibility, sustainability, community, and connection. Please come and visit this historic and special place. Dublin Public Library does not charge for a library card, does not require Dublin residence, and does not charge overdue fees. Our library tries to live the words, Free for All.

And, as part of the dream of making the library more accessible, the staff has identified the need for a drive-up book return located in the lower lot. For those who work nontraditional hours; those who have mobility challenges; and on inclement days, the opportunity to access a book return safely is critical. Wouldn't it be fun to help make this dream come true for all Dublin Public Library patrons (that means everyone!).

Please consider supporting our special library! Thank you, in advance.
