Mountain Valley Treatment Center

Located in Plainfield, NH, Mountain Valley is a nonprofit residential treatment program and the first of its kind to focus exclusively on problem anxiety in adolescents and young adults. By providing advanced clinical treatment in a supportive, non-hospital setting, Mountain Valley has created a community-based alternative that redefined how anxiety can be addressed for young people. Today, it remains the leader in applied exposure and response prevention and related therapies.

Our mission is to equip young people with the courage and skill to transcend anxiety and re-engage the world, each other, and life with confidence and passion.

Our goal is not to make our residents fearless. Instead, it’s to make their fear less—less controlling, less limiting, and less scary. In its proper place, anxiety—aka fear—can function as a sort of super power, animating us and making us safer, more compassionate, smarter, better. That kind of healing and empowerment is our goal for every resident.

Our purpose is to help young people with anxiety and related disorders do more than just cope—we believe they can heal and thrive—ultimately harnessing their struggles as strengths and powerful opportunities for growth. Grounded in evidence-based therapies, each resident is challenged to confront their anxiety in a gradual and compassionate process that matches their current level of functioning.
