Why On the Road to Wellness Needs You
Mental health challenges touch tens of thousands of adults in New Hampshire, yet traditional services are not accessible or acceptable to everyone. Many people avoid clinical settings because of past trauma, fear of judgment, or worry about being forced into treatment, while others simply cannot get in the door because of cost, insurance, or transportation.
Since 1988, some of our neighbors, friends, co-workers and family have walked through our doors looking for one thing: a safe place to be seen, heard, and believed.
On the Road To Wellness is a non‑clinical, member‑driven mental health peer support organization serving adults (18+) throughout Hillsborough and Rockingham counties in New Hampshire. All of our services are free, community‑based, and grounded in lived experience, not clinical labels.
On the Road To Wellness exists so those neighbors still have somewhere to turn.
What Makes This Place Different
On The Road To Wellness is built on the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) framework, a relationship‑based, holistic approach to recovery rooted in shared experience and mutual empowerment.
Every staff member is a person with lived experience of mental health challenges and is a Certified Peer Support Specialist in the State of New Hampshire. The person greeting you at the door, sitting with you in group, or riding with you to an appointment, has been there and understands, firsthand, what it takes to hold on to hope.
There are no appointments, no intake interviews, and no diagnostic requirements. Anyone 18+ who wants to improve their mental health, find community, or simply needs a safe space is welcome, regardless of background, diagnosis, or ability to pay.
This radical inclusivity is only possible because partners like you choose to stand with us.
More Than Just a Center
Isolation can be as dangerous as any diagnosis. That is why On the Road to Wellness offers services that meet people where they are.
Members have access to transportation, group activities, arts, skills‑building, and community meals that nurture connection and resilience at every stage of the journey.
At our Derry, NH Holistic Wellness Program, members care for their emotional, social, and physical well‑being through breathwork, ear acupuncture, meditation, Reiki, body scan, mindfulness, and other whole‑person practices at no cost.
When someone has no way to get to support, we provide a ride.
When someone has not eaten with others in months, we pull up a chair at a community meal.
When someone is ready to take even one small step toward wellness, a peer is there to walk beside them.
EXPANDED EQUITABLE ACCESS
The Difference Your Gift Makes
Mental health touches us all, but together we create the hope that helps us heal. As the saying goes; A rising tide lifts all boats.
Your support of On the Road to Wellness through NH Gives does so much more than keep the lights on.
It changes the trajectory of people’s lives. People who we call neighbor, friend, or even family.
Because of donors like you, On the Road to Wellness can:
Reduce social isolation and prevent hospitalization by offering early, non‑judgmental support in a safe, welcoming environment.
Empower adults to self‑direct their wellness, regain confidence, and build long‑term coping skills within a community of peers who truly understand.
Strengthen New Hampshire’s entire community and overall mental health by fostering grassroots recovery, resilience, and hope among people who might otherwise be left behind.
Every gift—no matter the size—helps keep this no‑cost, low‑barrier haven open for the people who need it most.
When you give to On the Road to Wellness during NH Gives, you are investing in dignity, empowerment, and recovery for some of New Hampshire’s most vulnerable adults.
Together, we’re building a road where no one walks alone.
