hey hey ya'll,

as you may know, i am a BIG animal lover, as well as an advocate for each and every underdog.

i also believe deeply in the power of our collective spirit and what becomes possible when we show up with care and consideration for one another. i believe our power, our privilege, our blessings, and our resources are meant to be shared in ways that help each and all of us be well, regardless of identity, shape, species, circumstance, or placement upon this majestic world we get to call home.

as someone who works deeply and directly with healing, i know that when we help heal one, we have a way of helping heal all.

i also know from my own story of heartbreak, trauma, and profound grief that when the humans fell short for me, the animals have always, always, always risen to the occasion.

whether through the dogs i have shared my life with, the creatures who have crossed my path, or the natural world itself, animals have continually reflected back to me something essential about being alive: our capacity to love, our willingness to belong to one another, and the profound difference that care can make when it is freely given.

every single day, every single breath, we are invited into a choice.

will i heal?
will i love?
or will i harm?
will i abandon?

i choose healing.
i choose love.

and that is why i am so grateful for the organization NicaLove and the incredible work they do every day for both animals and people throughout Nicaragua.

the reality is that there is immense suffering already present.

animals who have been neglected.
animals who have been abandoned.
animals who are injured, starving, sick, or fighting simply to survive.

many of these animals may never have had a chance if not for the compassionate humans at NicaLove who continually show up, boots on the ground and hearts opened wide, to offer care where care is desperately needed.

their work centers around animal welfare, providing rescue, shelter, veterinary care, medicine, rehabilitation, and sanctuary for animals who might otherwise be forgotten. they also support the people who love and care for these animals, often with very limited resources and access to care.

their work alleviates suffering that is happening right now while helping create the conditions for a healthier and more compassionate future for animals and humans alike.

i believe wholeheartedly in their mission, and i am constantly wishing i could do more to support the work they are doing.

which brings me here today.

i have joined NicaLove's peer-to-peer fundraiser as part of New Hampshire Gives, and i am hopeful that together we can raise awareness, expand support, and introduce more people to an organization that is creating meaningful change every single day.

to me, this is yoga in action.

it is the practice of recognizing our interconnectedness and responding with compassion when we have the ability to help.
