Who we are:
End 68 Hours of Hunger is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status. The Amherst & Mont Vernon chapter provides food assistance to local children and families who may otherwise go without adequate meals when school is not in session.
What we do:
In just 6 short months, we have already provided more than 900 bags of food to students in grades K–12 across five schools in Amherst and Mont Vernon. Each weekend bag contains enough food for three dinners, two lunches, two breakfasts, and snacks, helping ensure that children have reliable access to nutritious meals throughout the weekend. So far, we have sent home over 6,300 meals for the students participating in our program so far!
Our support extends beyond weekends. During school vacations, we provide additional food to help families through longer breaks, and our newly established summer program delivers monthly boxes of non-perishable food to families when school meal programs are unavailable.
We also work closely with our schools to address immediate needs. Children facing hunger often arrive at school distracted, fatigued, or seeking help from the nurse’s office because they have not had enough to eat. By providing snacks to school nurses and classroom teachers, we help ensure that students can focus on learning and participate fully in their school day.
Our mission:
As a community-based, volunteer-driven organization, we are committed to building strong partnerships with schools, families, local businesses, and community groups. We regularly participate in community events to raise awareness, connect families with resources, and foster a network of support for local children.
How you can help:
Every dollar raised stays in our community and helps provide food directly to local students and families. Your support allows us to continue meeting growing needs, expanding awareness of our program, and reaching more children who may benefit from assistance. Together, we can help ensure that no child in Amherst or Mont Vernon has to face hunger alone.
