About Our Homestead
“Who will care for our loved ones when we no longer can?”
As many of you know, our son Chris Panarese is now 46 years old. He is still living with my husband Joe and me, but as we get older, there is an ever-existing concern about where he will live when we are gone or are no longer able to care for him. Chris is very active and social and deserves to be in a safe environment with his peers, one in which he will be able to enjoy the life to which he is accustomed.
To this end, over the last three years I have become active with a group of four other mothers who share a common concern: the future well-being and independence of our adult children with developmental disabilities. The five moms, each with a child facing unique challenges, recognize the urgent need for sustainable, community-based housing solutions.
During the summer of 2025, Our Homestead was granted nonprofit status, and thus, our journey began. Our Homestead's central initiative is the creation of a long-term community-based residence for ten to twelve adults with developmental disabilities in the Manchester area. This goal, obviously, must begin with fundraising as as a substantial amount of money must be raised to even think about beginning such an undertaking.
If you or anyone that you know feel comfortable in making a contribution in any amount, Our Homestead would greatly appreciate it. Chris, Joe, and I sincerely thank you!
