Mending Roots is a grassroots humanitarian nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families in Ukraine – one person, one family at a time.
Founded by Nastia Vanyukevych, Mending Roots grows from a place of deep personal connection. Ukraine is where Nastia grew up, where her roots run deep, and where many of the people she loves still live.
Since the war began, Nastia has remained in close contact with people on the ground – witnessing firsthand how rapidly needs shift. One day brings urgent requests for food, shelter, and medication. The next demands impossible decisions: when to evacuate, how to care for an elderly parent, whether to leave behind a beloved animal, or how to begin rebuilding a life amid ongoing uncertainty and loss.
Mending Roots was created to meet those moments – responding quickly, compassionately, and with the kind of personal attention that larger organizations cannot always provide. We believe that direct connection and individual advocacy can make a profound difference, and we are honored to stand beside families navigating some of the hardest circumstances imaginable.
Every act of giving through Mending Roots helps restore something essential – stability, dignity, and the quiet but powerful feeling of not being alone:
$25 Provides warm meals, hygiene supplies, or emergency essentials for a person in crisis.
$50 Art supplies, school materials, or comfort items for a child in need.
$100 One month of food for 20 homeless animals through our rescue partners in Ukraine.
$150 Essential food and medication for a vulnerable elder for one month.
$500 Emergency relief for a family in crisis – utility support, heating, repairs, and more.
$1,000 Critical medical care, evacuation support, or home repairs for the most vulnerable.
We hold deep gratitude for everyone who has chosen to be part of this work. Your generosity makes it possible.
