The Amherst Land Trust has pursued a focused mission for 50 years: to save—in perpetuity—prized, undeveloped land. 

Land destined for play and recreation. Land protecting native plants and precious wildlife habitat. Land that safeguards clean water. Land that makes Amherst and neighboring towns coveted places to live.

You may already enjoy our lands—gardening or playing at Joshua’s Park, hiking the wildlands of Wah Lum Reserve in Mont Vernon, walking the tall pines at Grater Woods next to Merrimack, sampling apples at Lindabury Orchard, sledding at Bragdon Hill, hiking the Post Road Forest connecting Amherst and Mont Vernon. 

Thanks to the expertise of the Trust’s board—in science, real estate, law, finance, and more—we saved all of these properties, and we are positioned to add hundreds of acres more. See our video!

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2025, we look back for inspiration—and forward to another half century of pursuing our vision. 

Our goal for NH Gives Day is to raise $15,000 and attract 100 new donors. Help us continue this vital work. As a private nonprofit organization with an all-volunteer board, 100 percent of your money goes to land protection.
