About the Friends 
The Friends of The Greenfield Community Meetinghouse (FGCM) is an all-volunteer, grassroots non-profit organization operating in Greenfield, New Hampshire, dedicated to preserving and protecting the historic 225-year-old Greenfield Meetinghouse so that it may continue to be used and enjoyed for many generations to come. Working collaboratively with the Town of Greenfield, the FGCM will work to ensure the restoration, preservation and ongoing maintenance of the Meetinghouse by providing funding, volunteers, and resources to meet our goals. 

About the Meetinghouse 
The 231-year-old Greenfield Meetinghouse is the heart and soul of the town of Greenfield, NH. Listed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places, the Meetinghouse is the "oldest original Meetinghouse in NH built to serve both church and state." The Friends of the Greenfield Meetinghouse is seeking to raise $10,000 from NH Gives 2026 to put toward Phase 2 of the Meetinghouse renovation project.

About the Meetinghouse Project
The Friends have raised and contributed over $150,000 to the Meetinghouse project so far. In 2024, the Town of Greenfield received a $1M CDFA Community Center Program Grant to renovate the Community room level of the Meetinghouse, which was in dire need of repairs after water damage, and in need of renovations to provide accessibility. In fall 2025, the FGCM and the Town of Greenfield completed Phase 1 of the renovations to the Meetinghouse, with a completely renovated basement and kitchen, new restrooms on two levels, and an elevator!

The FGCM is now working to proceed with Phase 2 of the Meetinghouse project, which includes replacing windows to improve energy efficiency, preserving turn of the century stained-glass, and making renovations to the Sanctuary to create a flexible, welcoming community event space.
