Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter

At the Manchester Animal Shelter, we believe all animals
are deserving of life, respect and care. Our goal is zero-population-growth
through spay/neuter programs and services that focus on education, medical
care, fostering and adoption. Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter is a
non-profit organization which started in 1996. The shelter takes in homeless,
abused, and abandoned animals in the city of Manchester. We provide shelter,
medical care, and spay/neuter to every animal that comes through our doors. In
operation for nearly three decades, the shelter has helped provide care and find
loving homes for over 25,000 animals.

This NH Gives, we're raising funds to provide life-changing medical care for animals who need more than food, shelter, and love. They need a second chance at a comfortable, healthy life.

One of those animals is Teddy.

Teddy came to the shelter after spending much of his life without a stable home. Despite everything he has been through, he remains a happy, affectionate dog who greets each day with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, years of chronic ear infections left Teddy with severe, irreversible damage to his ear canals, causing ongoing pain and discomfort.

Our veterinary team determined that Teddy needed a Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA), a specialized surgery that removes the damaged ear canals and eliminates the source of his chronic pain. While the procedure leaves him fully deaf, it also gives him something far more important: relief. For the first time in years, Teddy can live without the constant discomfort that had become his normal.

Today, Teddy is pain-free, recovering well, and will soon be available for adoption. He now has the opportunity to find a loving home where he can enjoy the life every dog deserves.

Teddy's story is just one example of why advanced medical care is so important. Every year, animals arrive at our shelter with treatable conditions that require specialized surgeries and procedures.
