Established in 1995, the Great Bay Stewards is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that plays a key role in a number of programs associated with the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, including elementary school education, community outreach, estuarine research, and land stewardship, as well as providing support for the Great Bay Discovery Center and its classrooms, trails and grounds. The funds raised by the Stewards provide critical support to supplement state and federal funding received by the Reserve. To fulfill its mission to protect Great Bay for present and future generations, the Stewards also work with like-minded area organizations to raise awareness of critical issues and promote estuarine conservation and ecological health/vitality.

Your donation to the Great Bay Stewards will make it possible to develop and update exhibits inside the Great Bay Discovery Center; improve public access on the grounds of the Discovery Center; support field trips for children from schools throughout the New Hampshire Seacoast, including socioeconomically challenged schools; train teachers to share field-learning designed to bring estuarine knowledge and understanding to K-12 classrooms; fund research into invasive crabs and water quality, and more.

This summer, the Great Bay Stewards and Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve are especially excited to open the Glenn Cove property in Greenland to public access, where visitors can birdwatch, kayak, fish, snowshoe, and more. We also look forward this year to purchasing new kayaks for the Discovery Center, supporting continued operation of the live osprey camera, purchasing research supplies, and more.
