Mascoma Valley Preservation

LAST YEAR, you helped Mascoma Valley Preservation raise funds to repair Cheever's memorial stained glass window and further projects at the Grafton Center Meetinghouse and Kimball Property. This year, it's all about Cheever Chapel.

Our 2026 Goal: Cheever Chapel Foundation

Built in 1905, Cheever Chapel has always sat on damp ground. Generations of repairs have attempted to fix the water problem, but some only made it worse. MVP commissioned an historic building assessment of the chapel which confirmed our suspicion: the chapel needs an entirely new foundation and drainage system. 

Thanks to an $88,000 award from the NH Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP), we're halfway there. 

The plan is to lift the building, pour a new concrete foundation below grade (return the brick above grade), and install drainage around the perimeter. We'll also be replacing the bell tower shingle roof with new cedar shingles and flashing.
