The mission of Monadnock Humane Society is to strengthen the animal-human bond by promoting and providing for the well-being of animals.

Who We Are

Since 1875, the Monadnock Humane Society (MHS) has promoted the well-being of animals and their human companions. We provide education, support, and services that ensure animals are safe, housed, and loved. Our work also supports human wellness, since research shows that the animal-human bond improves people's mental and physical health.

We promote this nourishing bond by providing affordable, healthy animals for adoption. We also offer training classes that help dog owners have a happy relationship with their pets, as well as boarding and day care that ensures top-quality support for those who need it.

In addition, we provide many services that benefit pet owners who are struggling, including a pet food pantry for persons with low incomes, affordable clinics for spay/neuter and rabies, and free boarding and care for the pets of those who are homeless, victims of domestic violence, or entering a substance abuse program.

We also play a vital role in combating animal abuse and neglect in New Hampshire. We provide love, healing, and happy homes for abused animals. We also assist law enforcement with criminal cases; and we advocate for better state laws to protect animals.

Our adoption services contribute $1,512,100 to the Monadnock region's economy, in the form of revenue spent for vet care, food, litter, grooming, and other pet items. MHS receives no funding from national animal welfare organizations and is entirely supported by its kind and loyal donors.
