Port City Makerspace (PCMS) is a welcoming and inclusive community workshop located in Portsmouth, NH. We provide tools, workspaces, and a collaborative environment for artists, hobbyists, small businesses, and makers of all skill levels. Our space is designed to foster creativity, education, and cooperation to support the artist and maker in everyone.

“I love the people at the Makerspace. It’s a community of kindhearted, creative folks who willingly share skills, materials, and ideas.”  -Lam, PCMS member

With over 350 active monthly members, PCMS offers ten workshops, covering nine disciplines. From woodworking and metalworking to pottery and electronics, our expert-led classes focus on craftsmanship, creativity, and skill-building. In 2025, PCMS offered over 150 hands-on classes, for all skill levels, across dozens of subjects.

“Like many folks who find their way to PCMS, I always loved working with my hands, but growing up as a girl, I didn’t have much exposure to the trades. Learning in isolation is hard, and it felt like everyone else just knew a guy with all the tools and answers...Turns out, I didn’t have to ‘know a guy,’ I just needed to find the right place. PCMS gave me the confidence and community to try new things without the fear of failing alone. Now I get to pay that forward [by teaching] Auto Literacy for Life, helping others gain the same confidence I found here.” -Jenna, PCMS member and instructor
