Spicy Cats Rescue began in 2019 with the goal of socializing two very spicy semi-feral cats: Sesame and Lentil.
We shared their story with the world and quickly learned of the overwhelming need in our community for cats like them.
Because of Sesame and Lentil, we have dedicated ourselves to helping medical and behavioral special needs cats, the ones who need us the most.
It's estimated that there are between 30 and 60 million feral cats in the USA. Even though New Hampshire is not immune to the overpopulation problem, our state offers no assistance to community cat or TNR programs. Some larger organizations receive funding from individual towns, but these facilities often do not accept feral cats.
This leaves thousands of feral cats with nowhere to go, and providing their care falls on the smaller rescues (like us!)
Each year we spend between $65,000 and $75,000 on medical bills, surgeries, and supplies. This year we have already spent over $30,000! Unfortunately none of the cats have quite learned how to apply for jobs yet, so until then all of our funding comes from generous members of our community.
With your support, we will be able to continue helping any cat in need (from special needs to seniors) in the Seacoast Maine and NH area through rescue, adoption, rehabilitation, hospice, or TNR.
Spicy Successes
Year after year, we have expanded and streamlined our programs to greater serve the Seacoast's felines and families. In 2024, we had...
Maxwell’s Fund
Maxwell is a Sphynx cat who was surrendered recently. He needs a neuter more than you could possibly imagine, but he needs a heart ultrasound first to screen for heart disease due to breed risk. Our 2026 NH Gives campaign is dedicated to Maxwell and his booty blues!
Join The Old Cats Club
Support our cause year-round! The Old Cats Club is a monthly sponsorship program where your generosity provides a peaceful retirement for senior cats.
Every one of our senior and hospice cats gets frequent veterinary visits, arthritis care, medications, prescription foods, and anything else they could possibly need (including, but not limited to, cozy heat pads and window perches), all of which adds up pretty quickly.
Your monthly gift of as little as $10 allows these cats to live out their remaining months in comfort.
Bonus: all members will receive your choice of a magnet or sticky note pad so you can show off your support!
We are certified platinum by Candid for our commitment to transparency - donate with confidence!
