Touchstone Farm, Inc. has operated in New Hampshire for close to fifty years, providing therapeutic and educational equine opportunities.

Our mission is to positively change lives through partnerships between horses and people of varying abilities, ages, and backgrounds.

By facilitating the development of relationships between horses, small farm animals, and people, TSF provides unique support to groups and individuals living with physical, cognitive, and/or emotional challenges.  Our participants include military veterans, at-risk youth, and mentally and/or physically disabled youth and adults, among others. Programming includes horseback riding, carriage driving, groundwork, hiking with small animals, and other farm related activities

While our primary goal is to help our human participants, we realize that none of what we do is possible without our staff and horses, our most vital component. Our horses must be well cared for to keep them happy and healthy, maximizing their impact on the lives of our human participants. Just as you are feeling the impact of higher prices for everything, we are coping with increased prices for hay, grain, veterinary care, and all things associated with providing our horses the stellar care that they deserve.

Please support Touchstone Farm so we can continue to make a difference in the lives of so many!

Who We Are

Touchstone Farm in Lyndeborough, NH is a not-for-profit equine educational and therapeutic facility. Touchstone Farm fosters a community of belonging for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds who enter the farm gates. Grounded in a sense of place, mutual respect and well-being, we are a sanctuary that nurtures connections, cooperation, self-confidence, and personal growth.

Over the last 30 years, Horse Power, Touchstone Farm’s equine therapeutic division has safely and successfully served children and adults who struggle with mental illness as well as physical or cognitive challenges. Having maintained a 100% accreditation score from PATH Intl. (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship), we pride ourselves on our nationally certified professional teaching staff, our large string of well-trained and safe horses, our workshop classrooms and extensive riding facilities.

Currently, our student demographic is split 25% for those with cognitive challenges, 25% for those with physical struggles, and 50% for those with behavioral and mental health issues, most of whom are also faced with significant financial hardship. Our student population consists of 80% children from individual families, veteran families, local school districts, and residential treatment facilities. While 20% of our students are adult veterans and their spouses as well as adults with disabilities.

Our goal is for every student to develop the building blocks for success, despite their significant challenges. We help them manage their emotional burdens by providing a supportive environment outside of school that has a direct impact for positive results inside the classroom or in the workplace leading to a bright future.

The emotional trust and healing through the power of the horse are reinforced by newfound confidence and self-esteem. The horse touches that hard-to-reach area of these delicate hearts. Just like a mirror, one visualizes the reflection of their actions by interacting with the horse and the healing journey begins. Together, they gain trust, confidence, and compassion!

Touchstone Farm's goal for funding would be to grow our year-long "Moving Forward Together" middle school grief coping and personal empowerment programs for new children from local schools as well as new veteran families, whose lives have been severely impacted by the opioid epidemic, the loss of a parent or other tragic events.

Most recently, Touchstone Farm has had tremendous success with our pilot group programs for local middle school students. These students come to us from the greater Monadnock, Merrimack and Souhegan Valley regions, all facing hardships at home through the loss of a parent, tragedy, homelessness, and financial hardship. Many as a direct result of the opioid epidemic.

The outcome of our pilot program was a renewed connection to others and improved performance in the classroom as well as outside of school. With the largest impact being confidence building, leadership skills, and emotional growth as well as increasing academic performance by a full letter grade!

Over the past 11 years, Operation Horse Power, our military services program has continued to provide therapeutic riding and driving lessons as well as weekend therapeutic programs for veterans and their families, including NH National Guard members and NH Gold Star families...
