ACT supports community connection and cultural representation through the arts.

The Arts Council of Tamworth has been enriching the creative and artistic lives of the Tamworth community and its surroundings since its inception in 1966. Over the years, our organization has evolved to effectively fulfill its mission of serving the community in the changing times. In this second decade of the 21st century, the council's work remains firmly community-focused and accessible, exemplified by its commitment to offering free entry options for all participants in its events and programs.

As part of this commitment, the Arts Council of Tamworth partners with Tamworth's Title-1 elementary school, the K. A. Brett School, to bring multiple artist residencies and art projects to the students. Through this partnership, the Arts Council has effectively created a vital community resource pipeline, offering arts-focused inspiration and cultural guidance to a population that would otherwise lack regular access to such enriching opportunities.

In addition, in 2026, the Arts Council of Tamworth is providing a robust mix of other programming, some of which is aimed at the entire community and some of which is targeted to specific vulnerable populations. This includes our annual summer music festival, “An Afternoon by the Swift,” our authors fair in partnership with the Cook Memorial Library, an interactive lecture series featuring local artists and artisans, and a pilot program providing art therapy to area veterans.
