Nestled on a sprawling apple orchard overlooking the pristine waters of Walker Pond and the beautiful peaks of the White Mountains, Avaloch Farm Music Institute is a residential cultural arts center designed to serve as a catalyst for unfettered artistic exploration, creation, and performance. With 40 residential rooms, 9 dedicated rehearsal spaces, 9 practice rooms, a fitness center, a leisure room, and a culinary team led by a resident Executive Chef, Avaloch creates an ideal, supportive environment for over 100 ensembles each summer- giving them the chance to unleash their creativity, free of the normal chores of daily life. This life-changing opportunity is fully funded by Avaloch to all musicians who attend.

Now entering its 13th season, Avaloch’s summer residency has hosted over 1,000 ensembles from around the world, featuring an array of musical styles including contemporary, classical, jazz, electric, folk, and more! Resident artists have included both Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize winners and nominees, and winners of the prestigious Rome Prize, M-Prize, and Avery Fisher Career Grant, to name a few.

Our goal for this year's NH Gives campaign is to raise $10,000 which will be partially matched by a contribution from the AFMI Board Members. Our focus is to raise funds toward expanding both the regular residency program and our most recent EAR Residency Initiative which launched this past May and featured the Award-winning Balourdet Quartet.

The Educational Artist Residency (EAR) Initiative seeks to bring in distinguished musicians and ensembles for a week of off-campus interactive workshops and masterclasses with surrounding schools and educational institutions. EAR Residencies will also offer a unique, on-campus, residential opportunities for music lovers, enthusiasts and instrumentalists-- providing an opportunity where they can live, dine, socialize and learn alongside incredible performers, musicologists and composers, exploring historical and cultural contexts of the artists' repertoire and musical lineage.

When you partner with Avaloch, you make it possible for us to provide free concerts and community educational initiatives while also sustaining our highly esteemed summer residency program. Your gift through NH Gives will help us expand our programming so that we can offer more weeks of residency and provide more concerts and educational programs at Avaloch and in the surrounding community. Give the gift of creativity when you support Avaloch today!

Words from Avaloch Resident Artists:

It's so liberating to have a place away from the hustle and bustle of life to completely immerse ourselves in our craft and give ourselves space to explore who we are as artists. It was so meaningful and life-affirming to be surrounded by so many artists who so creatively explore what it is to share music and art with human beings."  -Balourdet Quartet

"Thank you for this gift of creative warmth, exploration and spontaneous (but very intentional) community. Our week here as a trio was life-affirming, full of reminders that, above all, what we do is about learning and sharing. We are so grateful for the work of all the artists and staff- who contribute to this rare, magical space, and feel excited to take new seeds/ideas with us out into the world." - Trio Ondata

"I cannot put into words how much this experience has meant to me and my ensemble. I have felt more rejuvenated, recharged, hopeful, cleansed and creative than I have in a very long time. Getting to know you all and the other brilliant, inspiring groups up here with us has been the most fulfilling experience." -Annie Nikunen
