Our Mission

The Eastman Charitable Foundation’s mission is to promote environmental stewardship, education, and green recreation through grants and scholarships.

Who We Serve

We serve Grantham, Enfield, and Springfield – including the Eastman Community. We award grants to area schools, towns, Conservation Commissions, and other local organizations to support projects within our mission.

How We Operate

Our Grants and Scholarship Programs are supported by individual and community partner donations. The Foundation is a volunteer-based organization, which keeps our administrative costs to a minimum while maximizing the local impact of each donation we receive.

Here are a few examples of our recent grants and scholarships:

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

ECF supported Eastman Lakes Watershed Management Plan.

We supported the Grantham Conservation Commission's initiative to install a Beaver Deceiver at the Sawyer Brook Headwaters to ensure consistent trail access.

We are supporting the on-going development of Enfield's Mascoma Lakeside Park, which included the installation of landscaping and a rain garden.

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

Our annual Fall Forum speakers share expertise in a wide variety of environmental topics - from wildfire risks to birding.

We funded a grant to support the Enfield Shaker Museum's horticulture education program.

GREEN RECREATION

Each year, we fund 12 weeks of Eastman Lake summer day camp for Grantham, Springfield, and Enfield children experiencing hardship.

We have also regularly supported Camp Coniston camperships for several students in need.

We contributed to the Grantham Sawyer Brook Headwaters project and the Byron Barton project in Grantham. Both now offer conserved woodlands with trails for hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing, and other outdoor recreation.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, we offer three $2,000 scholarships to high school seniors living in Grantham, Enfield, or Springfield who will be studying Environmental Science or a related field at a 2 or 4 year college.

ECF is proud to support the next generation of environmental leaders.
