$5,000 Goal

M&D Playhouse is asking for your help to ensure that the arts remain a
vibrant and meaningful part of our community life, accessible to all.

You may not know that ticket sales alone do not cover the cost of operating a community theatre. Beyond just keeping the lights on, theaters need to pay for licensing rights, costumes, props, lighting, set building materials, and more.  Additionally, while largely volunteer-driven, we need to pay for the skeleton crew that keeps us all together!

This year, M&D Playhouse has set a goal to reach 50 donors and raise $5,000 to fund “Your Theatre”. With your generosity, we can continue to provide a space that creates connection, confidence, and belonging. We can continue to give community members a place to build friendships and share stories across generations. Every rehearsal, class, and performance is an opportunity for creativity, collaboration, and personal growth, and your contribution helps to ensure that the arts remain a vibrant and meaningful part of community life, accessible to all.

M&D Playhouse believes that the performing arts, in all forms, are a valuable experience that adds to the vibrancy and culture of our community and enriches the lives of those who live here. Promoting and preserving the arts is an important aspect of our mission and we are proud to offer opportunities through education and participation. Whether onstage, backstage, or as a volunteer, children to adults will find the perfect place to explore and discover their creative souls. We also believe that theatre should be accessible to all and to that end we offer many low to no-cost opportunities for members of our local community to enjoy theatre.

M&D Playhouse has garnered over 37 NH Theatre Awards in the past 25 years, including the Francis Grover Cleveland Lifetime Achievement Award for founding director Ken Martin, and the NETC Award for Excellence in the American Theatre. Now under new leadership with current Producing Artistic Director Madison Smith, M&D's 26th season is underway. We're looking ahead to the future, with plans to continue updating our physical space as well as providing new opportunities for our community to experience theatre with M&D.

M&D Playhouse is an IRS 501(c)3 non-profit organization. M&D became the theatre in residence at the Eastern Slope Inn in 2019, after 10 years at Willow Commons. The playhouse requires renovation and repair, and while much work has been completed already, there is still plenty of work to be done!
