The mission of Monadnock Developmental Services is to work toward inclusion, participation, and mutual relationships for all people who are at risk of isolation from community. We promote self-determination and quality of life, develop an environment which encourages creativity, innovation, and individuality, and ensure quality of supports.
MDS provides many supports and services throughout the life span. Some of our primary services include:
Children's Service Coordination assists families in accessing services. Our goal is to educate and empower families to identify, access and utilize available resources in ways that are most helpful to them. Service coordinators assist families with:
Adult Services provide assistance to eligible individuals over the age of 21. Services are available for adults with developmental disabilities as well as acquired brain disorders such as traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease, and other degenerative brain disorders. Adult services are tailored to the needs of the individuals receiving supports and those closest to them. Adult Service Coordinators help individuals, their families, guardians, friends, and staff develop and maintain the system of supports and services that enable individuals to live in their communities, work, develop meaningful relationships, and enjoy life to the fullest. This is often done through provider agencies who hire and oversee staffing, but can also be done through family directed services as well.
Respite
Respite services allow family caregivers a much needed break, while giving the individual receiving respite care a chance to spend time in the community and enjoy personal interests with a trusted provider. Many individuals who receive respite funding have it covered through Medicaid. For those who don't qualify for Medicaid, MDS has additional limited funds available through a variety of grants such as Cheshire County grant and private donations.
Your gift means so very much to the 1,100 people supported by MDS. Because of your generosity, we will be better able to fill critical needs as they arise, help on much-needed projects and services and improve the opportunities for people throughout the region. We want you to know how deeply we appreciate donors like you to support the people and families served by MDS.
