Your Donation Helps Feed
New Hampshire by Supporting NH Farmers

This NH Gives, the NH Food Bank is raising
funds in support of NH Food Bank’s NH Feeding NH Program, a statewide initiative
designed to support the purchase of NH-grown food to feed our neighbors
experiencing food insecurity.

This critical program provides participating
agencies with the funds to purchase
nutritious, locally grown fruits, vegetables, dairy and protein directly from
NH farms
and has also grown to include:

  • Culturally Preferred Foods program which
allows our partner agencies to provide NH-grown, culturally-specific foods that the
individuals they serve are accustomed to in an environment that is
    inclusive to all,

  • bulk purchasing directly from NH farms, and

  • the establishment of forward contracting agreements with NH
    farms.

However, recent changes to federal funding priorities
have resulted in the loss of nearly $1 million in funding intended to support
the continued growth of this critical program.

In March of 2025, the New Hampshire Food Bank
was notified of the cancellation of USDA Local Food Purchase Assistance (LFPA),
which has been an integral source of funding for our NH Feeding NH program.
This cancellation has meant a loss of nearly $1 million in funding that was
originally slated to support the continued growth of this program through 2028.

While this federal funding is not the sole
source of funding used to support our NH Feeding NH program, it has been a driving
factor in our ability to grow this critical program – improving access to
fresh, local foods for our neighbors experiencing hunger throughout the state,
while simultaneously supporting NH’s local farmers and food producers.

These changes to federal
funding further emphasize something we already know– just how vitally important
our donors and community partners are to the work we do throughout the entire
state.
We are
thankful for your support as we continue our work to ensure that all Granite
Staters have access to the food and resources they need to thrive with the
ultimate goal of eradicating hunger in NH.

Who We Are

The New Hampshire Food Bank, a program of Catholic Charities NH, serves as the only food bank in the state, supplying nutritious food and resources to the hundreds of thousands of New Hampshire residents who are food insecure. The NH Food Bank receives no federal or state funding for food distribution. The Food Bank supplies approximately 50% of the food distributed annually to more than 425 partner agencies, including food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, children's programs, senior centers and more. In turn, these agencies provide hunger relief to those suffering from food insecurity throughout the state. For further information, please visit: www.nhfoodbank.org.
