Together, we fight the ongoing epidemic of opioid, stimulant, alcohol, and other substance misuse in New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association (NHADACA) is a statewide leader in empowering substance use professionals with the tools, training, and support they need to provide effective prevention, treatment, and recovery services. The substance use workforce is essential to healing our communities and we’re here to support them every step of the way.

Here’s how we make a difference:

  • We deliver high-quality professional development and continuing education to the prevention, treatment, and recovery workforce.

  • We provide clinical supervision, licensure support, and credentialing assistance to grow and strengthen the field.

  • We promote provider wellness through peer support groups, wellness activities, and organizational assessments aimed at improving retention and workplace culture.

  • We offer scholarships to make training more accessible and reduce financial barriers for those entering or advancing in the field.

  • We guide individuals and families in navigating treatment resources and educate the public on substance use and mental health issues.

  • We advocate for policies that protect and uplift the behavioral health workforce and those they serve.

This year, your support will help us expand all of these essential services - fueling innovation, expanding access to care, and supporting the professionals who show up every day for our most vulnerable. Whether it's helping a provider earn their license, delivering a life-changing training, or creating space for wellbeing and collaboration, your gift powers every part of our mission.

Help us strengthen and sustain New Hampshire’s substance use workforce. Together, we can build a system of care that truly works for everyone.

NHADACA’s mission is to provide quality education, workforce development, advocacy, ethical standards and leadership for addiction professionals. We empower efforts in prevention, treatment and recovery. Thank you for your support!

Who We Are

Throughout our 30 years, one primary passion has guided us; the desire to assist others in seeking and maintaining recovery.

Substance abuse costs the state of New Hampshire more than $1.84 billion each year in loss of productivity, criminal justice and health care costs, and adverse social and family consequences. NHADACA educates and advocates for substance use professionals. NHADACA supports and encourages competent, comprehensive programs for addiction professionals and those impacted by addiction. We deliver education and advocacy on substance use and other behavioral health issues.

NHADACA is the lead provider of continuing education on substance use related issues in NH. NHADACA hosts 35-45 professional development events per year, including multi-day conferences, symposia, forums, livestream online events and on-demand webinars.

NHADACA provides an avenue for cross-system training to ensure professional preparation and workforce development within behavioral health, primary care and other healthcare fields who work with the clients and families impacted by addiction.

NHADACA forges strong relationships with policy makers and key stakeholders throughout NH. NHADACA ensures the profession access to accurate, timely information about addiction, prevention, treatment and recovery. NHADACA members and training registrants gain valuable information to help them serve their communities. NHADACA supports the State's goal to "ensure the people in NH receive quality services based upon the current state of knowledge in the field".
