Carroll County remains the only

county in the state of NH that does not have a

homeless shelter open to the general population.

Way Station purchased a van to provide Mobile Outreach Rural Services in remote areas of the county, reaching clients where they are. The van is a mobile distribution system for supplies, supportive services, and shelf-stable food. Funding for the Way Station Mobile Outreach Rural Services Project will ensure services reach beyond the North Conway 17 Grove Street location and into other rural parts of Carroll County, where the need for services is growing. The primary purpose of the van is to extend the outreach of Way Station services.

In 2026, we're confident in the future of our clients and our sustainable nonprofit. This year, we're focusing on H.O.M.E.

Your ongoing support, as friends, volunteers, partners, and donors, has made HOME possible, despite the challenges that surround us.

H.O.M.E. (Housing/Operations/Mobility/Economic Stabilization) is the acronym for the Way Station's strategic plan to grow how we serve our homeless and housing-insecure neighbors throughout Carroll County.  Our first commitment is to reach the people who need us most.

We do so by meeting essential needs and working toward more sustainable interventions.  Mobile Outreach Services will reach those in need where they are.

You can help us during NH Gives by supporting the work we do, making a stronger impact for our neighbors, and together we can grow and envision long-range housing options that will develop into significant help for the homeless community in Carroll County.

NH Electric Co-op will help you make a stronger impact with a $10,000 NH Gives match for Way Station - Bank of NH gives $2,500 toward the match!

to support the Way Station Mobile Outreach Rural Services Program.  With Mobile Services, Way Station can reach those in need where they are and when they need it. Bank of New Hampshire has chosen to support Way Station for the NHEC match, with a $2,500 donation to help them reach their goal!

Thank you!

Who We Are

The purpose of the Way Station is to serve and support the vulnerable populations of the Mt. Washington Valley area, including those experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, poverty, or other needs. We opened in May of 2019, and through the end of that year, we served 91 unique individuals during their 265 visits. From October to December 2020, our volunteers provided 158 laundry cards, 94 gas cards, 9 phones, 38 phone cards, and 68 households were provided with shelf-stable food. 432 client contacts were made in those few months.
