Help Someone Get to Work—Not Just Get Hired!

NH Gives 2026

At West Central Behavioral Health we believe work can be an essential step on the path to recovery. Our Supported Employment team helps clients find and keep competitive jobs – assessing their skills and vocational interests, assisting their search for a job, helping them prepare for the interview, and providing ongoing support and guidance to help the client remain employed.

But there are other things needed to secure a job, both in the interview process and once the job has been secured.

Our Supported Employment Supervisor Lindsey Carbee explains the need:

“As the IPS Supported Employment Supervisor, I see that many people we serve face immediate money problems that make it hard for them to get and keep a job. Many do not have the basic things needed to be ready for work including:

  • clothes for interviews and uniforms for work
  • haircuts or other basic grooming
  • everyday hygiene items
  • transportation support such as money for gas, taxis, or bike repairs

One person was hired at a local deli but had to buy non‑slip shoes before they could start. Because they live on a fixed income, they could not afford the cost right away, which delayed their start date.

In another case, in order to start working at a grocery store, a client needed money for:

  • gas to pay a friend for rides
  • new shoes to replace their old worn-out ones
  • required khaki pants for the job

Because they had been denied SSI/SSDI, they had no income to pay for the things needed to take the job.

Without help to cover these basic needs, people who are motivated and qualified may not be able to get to interviews, look professional, or stay employed. Providing targeted financial support can make a big difference in helping people access jobs, start working on time, and keep their employment.”

As a participating non-profit in NH Gives, West Central asks for your support to provide gift cards to help our clients get to work.

Your gifts will allow us to purchase gift cards for clients to:

  • buy interview and work required clothing and shoes
  • get haircuts and purchase toiletries so they look their best and have confidence in interviews
  • purchase gas or cover other transportation costs

Giving begins at 5 PM on June 9!

Who We Are

We Are West Central Behavioral Health

At West Central Behavioral Health, we provide compassionate care for children, adults, and families facing mental health, behavioral, or substance use challenges. Our goal is to create a safe, understanding environment where people feel supported and empowered to move forward with their lives. Depression, anxiety, substance misuse, and mental health crisis situations are on the rise. We are highly-skilled and caring doctors, nurses, therapists, case workers, substance use counselors, and front-line crisis support clinicians.

One in five people will experience mental illness this year, and 5 in 5 will experience a mental health issue in their lifetimes. That makes our mission so important to everyone. Mental illness and substance use disorders don’t discriminate. Since 1977, West Central clinicians and staff work tirelessly to help nurture people’s dreams and transform their lives for the better -- and save lives every step of the way.

West Central Behavioral Health is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. With clinics in Claremont, Lebanon, and Newport, we are one of the ten community behavioral health centers in New Hampshire. All gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law.
