The Whitefield Public Library is a beautiful 1904 Carnegie library at the heart of town. Our mission, “Connecting people with the resources they need to live their best lives,” is illustrated in everything we do. From our free WiFi and computers, to our dozens of community partnerships, our hundreds of annual programs, to our collection of over 17,000 circulating items, we take great pride in serving over 10,000 visitors a year!
The Whitefield Public Library is at the geographic and emotional center of Whitefield, and we believe the building can be a hub for families, visitors, entrepreneurs and remote workers, retirees, and anyone looking to build their connections and knowledge.
To help us accomplish this goal, we have a 4000 square foot addition set to break ground this fall 2025. To date, we have raised $3.2 million for this community-changing project! With this money we will rehabilitate our beautiful original building, plus add a large community room for 75-100 people with restrooms and a small kitchen, individual quiet work areas, a re-designed children’s space, and Maker’s Space and Business Center, all to meet our region’s diverse emerging and changing needs.
The Whitefield's Official Library Friends group (WOLF) offers financial and volunteer support for the Library and its many programs throughout the year which benefit community and patrons of all ages - but our biggest "lift" is the annual summer events/reading program for children, youth, and families, and also a summer feeding program to address local food insecurity during the summer months. WOLF assists with additional staff costs, presenters, materials, and logistics for both programs. To do this, WOLF needs to raise between $10,000 and $15,000.
