This NH Gives Day, We Are Fundraising for Our Deaf Connections Social Group

This NH Gives Day; Gateways Community Services is fundraising to support our Deaf Connections Social Group — a community-centered program created to reduce isolation and build meaningful relationships for Deaf and disabled adults in our region.

For many of the individuals we support, opportunities for connection are extremely limited. Communication barriers, lack of accessible community activities, and social isolation often prevent Deaf disabled adults from fully participating in everyday life. Many individuals experience loneliness, frustration, anxiety, and limited opportunities to build friendships or engage with their communities in meaningful ways.

Deaf adults with additional disabilities face unique challenges, including:

• Limited access to American Sign Language (ASL)-fluent staff, interpreters, and peers
• Difficulty participating in community activities that are not designed with Deaf accessibility in mind
• Ongoing social isolation due to communication barriers
• Emotional and mental health challenges caused by lack of connection and inclusion

Our Deaf Connections Social Group was created to change that.

Through monthly Deaf socials, weekly community outings, peer connection opportunities, and structured group activities, participants are able to communicate freely, form lasting friendships, and experience a true sense of belonging in accessible environments designed for them.

With your support, we can continue and expand these opportunities by providing:

• Deaf-accessible social spaces
• Weekly small-group outings and activities
• Peer-to-peer connection groups
• Transportation assistance
• Accessibility resources and communication supports
