Lakes Region Model Railroad Museum, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

We are a group of dedicated individuals determined to preserve the history of the Lakes Region railroad system by means of a running model train museum.

We were able to rescue the original freight house, located in the center of town, from being torn down. This building has been standing since the 1870s. The construct of the museum is inside the walls of that building. The model train museum will depict the Boston to Wolfeboro connection with all the communities in the region it served.

Our main objective is to give you an interactive experience and historic portrait of the socioeconomics and cultural impact the railroads had on the industrial transportation. This also brought about the boom of tourist development of the several central New England towns, including Wolfeboro.

There is a running O scale of trains situated 4 feet above the main layout. The main layout is HO scale, which has the trains running through all the communities along the route. The museum will be a community asset for not only our community of Wolfeboro but for all the surrounding communities. The Lakes Region Railroad Museum will be a must-see destination for all ages.
