In a world that's always changing, one thing stays true: strong communities are built by people who have access to tools, knowledge, and each other.
Makers Mill is a Community Makerspace & Vocation Hub located in the heart of New Hampshire’s Mountains and Lakes Region. We are formerly G.A.L.A. (Global Awareness, Local Action), a nonprofit committed to sustainable community-building for over a decade.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to enrich rural lives and foster fulfilling livelihoods by bringing people together to discover, cultivate, and share their unique gifts and skills.
We believe in the kind of resilience that’s born not only from individual self-reliance, but from collaboration, creativity, and connection. Whether someone is welding their first sculpture, repairing a toaster, learning to sew, building a career, or simply finding belonging, Makers Mill provides the space, tools, and community to grow.
A Place to Learn, Create, and Belong
In just two and a half years, Makers Mill has offered 500+ classes, welcomed over 3,000 students, and worked with 48 talented instructors—all part of our mission to foster community resilience, skill building, and creative connection.
Our programs include:
• Workshops & classes in woodworking, fiber arts, technology, metalwork, digital design, and more
• Tool Lending Library for DIYers, tinkerers, and homeowners
• Repair Café where community members fix broken items and learn new skills
• Youth & adult programs designed to foster creativity, career skills, and self-confidence
• Mentorship & collaboration for local entrepreneurs and makers of all ages
Here, people come to make things—and end up making friends, finding purpose, and building community.

Why Your Support Matters
This year, our NH Gives goal is to raise $20,000 to strengthen and expand the programs that make Makers Mill a place of transformation. While we’ve completed construction on our space, the heart of our work is in the ongoing programming that helps people thrive—personally, professionally, and creatively.
Funding for the arts, education, and community programming is becoming increasingly scarce. Your donation ensures that Makers Mill remains a vital resource in our region—a place where people of all backgrounds can access tools, mentors, skills, and the inspiration they need to build a better life and a stronger community.

https://www.instagram.com/makersmillnh/Mission: Strengthening community by supporting people to discover their unique gifts and cultivate skills that enrich rural lives and generate rewarding livelihoods.
Vision: We envision a future where people are emotionally, mentally, and physically supported to discover, cultivate, and share their unique gifts with the world. The act of sharing these gifts leads to gainful employment and rewarding livelihoods. People identify less as consumers of material things, and more as makers of a vibrant, strong, healthy community.
Values: Everyone has unique gifts to offer, everyone. Everyone should have the opportunity to apply these gifts towards gainful employment and meaningful community engagement...
