New England Healing Sports Association

We are NEHSA—the New England Healing Sports Association—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to transforming lives through year-round adaptive sports and recreation. Founded over 50 years ago by a passionate group of returning Vietnam Veterans, our mission remains vibrant and strong: empowering individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities through the power of outdoor sports and recreation.

At NEHSA, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the freedom, joy, and empowerment of outdoor recreation. From adaptive skiing and snowboarding in the winter to kayaking and paddle sports in the warmer months and now adaptive hiking in the spring and fall, we continue to grow our programs to meet the diverse needs of our participants.

Our impact goes beyond the trails and slopes. Participants consistently experience increased confidence, greater independence, and enriched social connections. 

As we look forward, our goals include further expanding our adaptive hiking program, enhancing our veteran-focused programming, and growing our community engagement efforts to reach even more individuals who can benefit from NEHSA’s services.
