Our Story

New Hampshire Environmental Educators (NHEE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring connections to the natural world through high-quality environmental education. As the only statewide organization supporting environmental educators, NHEE has been advancing environmental literacy across New Hampshire since 1979.

Throughout the year, we offer professional development, networking opportunities, and an annual conference, where we honor an outstanding Environmental Educator of the Year. We advocate for outdoor learning and champion the people bringing it to life.

But perhaps our proudest initiative is our NHEE’d To Get Outside Grant. This opportunity is open to NH schools or 501(c)3 non-profit organizations to provide students with hands-on, experiential, outdoor learning opportunities. Since 2018 we've awarded $85,492 that enabled 10,266 students to get outside. Experiences have included monthly nature stations, annual school hikes, peregrine falcon lessons, school gardens, snowshoe adventures, multi-day canoe trips, and much more! These aren't just field trips, they're moments that spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster lifelong connections to the natural world.

This year, every dollar raised will directly support the NHEE'd to Get Outside Grant program, expanding access to outdoor learning across the Granite State especially in underserved and under-resourced communities.

NHEE invites you to join the growing community of folks working towards a New Hampshire where all people value and feel connected to our natural spaces, are environmentally literate, and act as social and environmental stewards in their communities.
