Since 1989, Plan New Hampshire (Plan NH) has brought together a variety of professionals and engaged community members who care deeply about community development and our mission of fostering excellence in planning, design, and development of New Hampshire’s built environment.

Plan NH champions proactive community engagement, participatory planning processes, and Smart Growth principles in pursuit of our mission and vision of vibrant communities across the state. The work of Plan NH takes the form of educational events, networking opportunities, scholarship programs, and specialized programs for municipalities to support engagement related to community design and visioning as well as land use regulations.

Who We Are

We support: Community planning and design; diversity, equity and inclusion; choices/options in how to get about, choices in home design and location, historic assets, local economies, open spaces, civic engagement, aging in place and more.

What we build, where we build and how we build anything – whether a street or park or home or commercial building – can affect the quality of life in your community.

How your town is planned and designed, how you and your neighbors get about (car, bus, foot, bicycle?), and whether you have choices in places to live that meet your needs are all essential to your health and vitality – and to that of your community as a whole. For example, concepts as diverse as economic development and aging in place can both be supported by thoughtful and intentional planning and design.

Through workshops, community charrettes, and more, Plan NH raises awareness of ideas and trends around these issues that are meant to inform and inspire all of us as we work to create “livable” and vibrant places to live, work and play.

Most importantly, the work demonstrates the interconnectedness of every aspect of community.

In addition, Plan NH encourages you to consider changes in your town that are having an impact: changes in demographics, changes in weather patterns, changes in the economy. How can you plan for these?

Your donation will help us continue to bring information and inspiration - to NH communities as well as to the planners, designers and builders who shape them - about how to think in new ways about our collective future here in the Granite State.
