Colonial Theatre

A nonprofit organization

Our Big Announcement is Here!

NH Gives runs from 5PM on June 10 through 5PM on June 11—don’t miss it!

Thanks to the incredible support of our community and recent capital improvements to our historic building, The Colonial Theatre is proud to announce that our 110th season will now extend through December, 2025! This exciting milestone marks the first time in recent history that we'll remain open beyond the fall season, offering even more opportunities to enjoy live music, film, and special events. We're deeply grateful for your donations which help make this extension possible.

The Colonial Theatre was built on the desire to enhance the quality of life in the North Country by presenting innovative and inspiring arts programming. It has been our vision to create a community cultural center with the emphasis on community. We are proud to be a locally run and community focused organization – a symbol of resilience and what is possible when residents, visitors, and local businesses join together to support an invaluable cultural resource that also invigorates the local economy.

HELP US MEET OUR GOALS!

Our goal is to raise $30,000 in one day to support our programming! Last year we met our fundraising goal with the help of 100 donors and received the "Most Donors" prize for the North Country! In honor of our 110th anniversary, our goal is to beat that record this year with donations from 110+ donors! Read about our exciting matching gifts and donation perks below.

MATCH ANNOUNCED!

All gifts up to $15,000 will be matched 1:1 thanks to generous matching pledges from Les Apple & Debra Saunders, Cecilia Blewer & Clayton Young, Eden Hill Farm, Carrie & Jim Hamblin, Orion Howard & Erin Woo, and four anonymous donors. Give and give again to double your gift and help us meet this matching challenge.

Our Vision: A vibrant, engaged, and enriched community through arts and culture.

Our Values:

We believe…

-relevant arts and cultural programming make a positive difference in creating a sense of belonging, fellowship, and community that enriches all;

-access to different perspectives gives us deeper understanding of the world in which we live and helps us see more clearly what unites us as well as what makes us each unique;

-responsible stewardship and partnerships enable us to leave a lasting legacy of cultural enrichment.

The Colonial Theatre is the home of arts, film, music and culture in New Hampshire’s North Country. Located in the heart of The White Mountains in Bethlehem, New Hampshire, the historic Colonial Theatre is one of the oldest continuously operated movie theaters in the country, celebrating its 110th anniversary this year.

Now, after a series of renovations and improvements, the 300-seat Colonial offers state-of-the-art digital projection and surround sound for independent and world cinema, hosts Grammy award-winning performing artists, family entertainment, and community events—all without losing the intimate charm of a vintage theater.

Who We Are

Our Mission: Envisioning an enlightened and enriched community. Through relevant arts and cultural programming we nurture the heritage, prosperity and aspirations of the communities we serve.

Like all institutions, The Colonial is navigating these uncertain times on a day-to-day basis. The good news is that with your support, The Colonial confronts this global emergency in the strongest position in our history. 2019 was by far our most successful year to date. We blew the doors off our projected goals for attendance, income, new programming and community support...
