At Visions for Creative
Housing Solutions, we’re creating homes that do more than provide shelter — we
nourish, empower, and support adults with developmental disabilities to live
full, meaningful lives in the community.



Visions celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2024 and in the
relatively short history of our organization, so much has been accomplished! We
opened our doors in 2014 with just six residents at Sunrise Farm in Enfield,
New Hampshire.  As requests for our services and our wait list continued
to grow, we increased capacity at our founding site and launched two capital
campaigns in quick succession that resulted in opening two more Visions sites,
one in Lebanon and one in Hanover, New Hampshire.  

For many parents with adult children still at home who
need lifelong care and support, Visions is the only option. “As my
husband and I age and become unable to care for our only child, a daughter who
has an intellectual disability and cannot live on her own, we face grave
concerns,” one parent has said. “What will happen to her when we
are no longer here? Where will she live? Who will support her? How will she
find joy and purpose in life?”

Visions answers those questions. Everyone at Visions has
safe, affordable, permanent housing among a caring circle of friends. They
each have daily access to healthy meals, and high quality staff support that
ensures their ability to work, volunteer, and enjoy all that life in the Upper
Valley has to offer.

Not only is food insecurity more common among people with disabilities, but it
also tends to be more severe. Visions supports residents in preparing their own
food and ensures that nutritious meals are always available for our residents.

of safe and joyful housing

We proactively address a transition of care for adults with developmental and
similar disabilities from their aging parents to a stable, reliable and caring
environment. We ensure the stability of affordable, permanent housing within a
mutually supportive community of friends.

hours of staff support.

Access to community activities, residential services, and employment support helps
everyone we serve to form social connections, develop communication and
leisure interests and skills, and to increase their independence in community
settings. 1:1 as-needed staff support makes full integration in the community
possible for each of our residents.

Who We Are

Founded in 2014, Visions for Creative Housing Solutions provides supported housing for 11 residents with developmental disabilities at Sunrise Farm in Enfield, NH and another 11 residents at 12 Green Street in Lebanon, NH (as of the end of June 2021.) Unlike group home or home provider models, Visions utilizes an innovative model developed by our Founder and Executive Director Sylvia Dow whereby each resident lives in their own affordable apartment with a roommate with 24/7 supports tailored to their specific needs so they can create independent lives for themselves. These wrap-around supports enhance their ability to access employment, transportation, health and medical oversight, life skills development, relationship building, and social and recreational opportunities.

For individuals living with developmental disabilities in New Hampshire, isolation can be a lifelong threat. Less than 10% drive and the vast majority have limited financial resources. With scarce access to public transportation and on the job supports, many are unemployed or underemployed and they have limited opportunities for social engagement. As they make the transition from youth to adulthood, they have limited options for securing supported affordable housing that offers them the freedom, services, stability and community they need to thrive. The vast majority of adults with developmental disabilities live at home with their parents or family members. As parents age, this becomes even more challenging and places all involved at risk.
