WNHN-LP, 94.7 FM (and streaming "live" at wnhnfm.org) is a listener-supported, volunteer-run, low-power, nonprofit radio station serving Concord and the greater NH capitol region.
Now 14 years old, the station provides not only 24/7 jazz & blues programming, but a variety of other genres like classic oldies, old school rhythm & blues and soul, Americana, disco and dance club on Dianne Paquette's "Retro Radio Disco," jazz vocalists on the late Frank Wilner's "Portraits in Blue 'n Green," progressive rock on Craig V's "The Vinyl Hour," exotica music on Sweet Caroline's "The Lounge Show," surprising eclectic tunes on Andrew Gray's "The Cover Game, local musicians on "The Dave Scott Show," and classical on Fred Portnoy's "Ancient & Modern." All of these locally produced shows are provided to us by volunteer producer/hosts.
Our mission? Fill the gaps on the radio dial!
Being in the capitol area also gives us a special responsibility to cover the workings of government, both state and federal. "State House Watch," produced by the American Friends Service Committee during the NH legislative session, focuses on social-justice legislation. "The Attitude with Arnie Arnesen," offers a lively, daily discussion with national guests addressing national political issues and, finally, daily public-affairs shows shared by low-power, US stations, like ourselves, affiliated with the Pacifica Radio Network. WNHN also recently launched "The American Democracy Minute," another Pacifica and PRX-syndicated show heard on over 70 stations and produced by Brian Beihl, a board member and founding principal of our station.
Help us fuel great music, local voices and a strong, progressive impact with your financial gifts. And if you'd like to volunteer and learn radio, we'll love that, too!
Thank you from the board, staff and volunteers of WNHN!
WNHN-FM, 94.7 on the radio dial (and available online), is New Hampshire's progressively-grounded, nonprofit, volunteer-driven, low power community radio station with an outsized reach and a big voice. While we broadcast from Concord, our listeners hail from all corners of the state and from other states (and even countries) far beyond NH. We are dedicated to filling the gaps on YOUR radio dial with information, insights, great jazz, and much more music you will not find elsewhere.
Each weekday, WNHN broadcasts "The Attitude with Arnie Arnesen" with the indefatigable Arnie and co-host Susan Bruce. This is WNHN’s acclaimed hour of thoroughly-researched and provocative sociopolitical discussion with an amazing array of guests. WNHN is honored that this program has been picked up for national distribution by the Pacifica Radio Network and is now heard on stations from NH to Hawaii. With New Hampshire playing a significant role on the national political stage, Arnie and "The Attitude" have been sought after nationally (and beyond!) as a trusted voice for political and policy analysis.
To explain what’s really going on in the NH Legislature, the incomparable Arnie Alpert and Maggie Fogarty of the American Friends Service Committee-NH bring you the popular "NH State House Watch." Listeners have called this program indispensable. It is “must listen” radio for anyone who cares about public policy in NH.
WNHN also features Amy Goodman’s "Democracy Now;" Ian Masters’"Background Briefing;" the "Thom Hartmann Show;" and much more.
You will find terrific music programming at WNHN, from live music highlighting local and regional bands, to great jazz , to retro disco, rock and roll, ragtime, rhythm and blues, and radio theater. We also feature voices of veterans – and new programs and local features are always in the works.
WNHN offers insight and diversity that reflects the broad spectrum of interests of our growing community of listeners. We rely on volunteer program hosts, producers, and donors to keep our community radio station thriving. We welcome YOUR programming ideas and encourage your donations.
