Nelson School End 68 Hours of Hunger

The End 68 Hours of Hunger program provides food to needy children for the hours they are not in school where they receive breakfast and lunch.  

This organization is a NH based nonprofit that provides weekend meals for children who may be food insecure.  The program offers 3 shelf stable dinners, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and snacks to carry the child through the 68 hours between school lunch on Friday and breakfast on Monday.  

Your donation stays local. 

Our small, rural school has 55 students, from the towns of Sullivan and Nelson, covering grades K-6.  Our chapter provides weekend food to 15 children from these 2 towns. Families self identify their needs and sign up through the school. There are no financial requirements for families.  

95% of your donation goes directly to the purchase of food.  

Since April 2025, the volunteers of The Nelson School Chapter of End 68 have provided over 500 bags of food purchased through small donations and grants from area businesses.  Only 5% of funds raised are used to support the national End68 organization.

Childhood food insecurity affects one out of five children and occurs when children receive insufficient food on a regular basis. The impact of food insecurity on children is pervasive. Children who are chronically undernourished can have life long developmental and behavioral issues. 

Teachers report that children who receive weekend food support are more responsible, and their performance improves.  Documented increases in reading and math scores have been reported as well. 

$20 will provide a weekend's worth of food for one child; $80 covers a month of food for a hungry child.
