Since 2022, Friends of Piscataquog River Park has been working with the City of Manchester to improve and maintain Piscataquog River Park on Manchester's west side.
As an all-volunteer and donor-funded group, we work to put on volunteer events to make the park "cleaner, greener, and more accessible for all". We do this by hosting volunteer events in the fall, winter, and spring to clean up trash, remove invasive plants, and make general improvements to the park. We hold several work days each year, providing coffee, snacks, and refreshments for our volunteers, as well as tools, gloves, and safety equipment. We also hosted our first bird watching and plant ID tour with NH Audubon, with strong interest to do more.
And we have big plans for the future! To keep the momentum going on our park improvements, we'd like to raise funds to complete an on-going project to install a pollinator garden full of native plant species by the George W. Smith entrance to the park, as well as develop a master plan through a design charette with Plan NH.
In addition, we had a break-in at our tool shed this spring and some of our tools and equipment were stolen. So we are also looking to restock important items like hand snips and loppers.
Your donation will also help us leverage other local grants in the form of a cash match, a critical source of funds for our small non-profit!
We thank you for your interest in our work and appreciate any donation to our group during our first NH Gives campaign!
Sincerely,
