As the Community Relations Director at Mid-State Health Center, I get to share our mission every day, but I’m also a patient and a mom who depends on Mid-State for my own family.
Both of my children, Penelope and Miles, see Dr. Nettie Colella for pediatric care, and I truly cannot imagine navigating motherhood without her support. As a mom of two under two, having a provider who listens, cares deeply, and is always there when your child needs help makes all the difference.
Recently, my daughter Penelope was diagnosed with high-grade Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR), a condition that can cause kidney infections and long-term kidney complications in young children. Since Nellie was 6 months old, she has had multiple UTIs, kidney infections, and more ultrasounds and scans than any little one should have to experience.
While we work closely with her urology specialists, Dr. Colella has been such an important part of this journey. She has helped us understand Penelope’s care plan, offered guidance, checked in on us, and provided reassurance during some really stressful moments. She has helped us navigate ER trips and worked with us to create a plan to get her tested right in our pediatric office when possible, helping us avoid unnecessary hospital visits.
She is more than a pediatrician—she is part of our village. If you’re a mom, you know how hard that village can be to build, and how important it is when you find it!
Mid-State Health Center provides that kind of care for so many families in our community. Compassionate, accessible healthcare close to home truly changes lives, and I am so grateful my family gets to experience that firsthand.
I’m proud to support Mid-State during NH Gives, and I hope you’ll consider joining me.
