Jeremy wants to move out!
Jeremy is 30 years old. He has always lived here at home. but, at this stage in his life he desperately wants to move out and live a different lifestyle. He wants to be living where he can be developing skills of daily living while taking care of many of his own needs. He feels stuck not only living with his mom but also in a home where he isn't making progress.
If Jeremy had an opportunity to live in an accessible home with a Universal Design focus according to ADA standards, as is the plan for Our Homestead Inc, he would have an opportunity to develop into his best self while experiencing a sense of individual growth. Living alongside a peer group would offer an added level of growth as he shares life with others motivating one another in all aspects of living.
Housing for our IDD population isn't just about providing care when we parents can no longer provide it. It is about giving our loved ones the opportunity to grow and develop allowing them to feel purposeful and good about themselves as they make their way forward.
Our Vision
Our Homestead’s central initiative is the creation of a long-term, community-based residence for adults with developmental disabilities. The envisioned housing model is designed to balance individual autonomy with shared community life, providing each resident with their own private space while fostering opportunities for socialization, vocational engagement, and recreational activities.
The organization’s approach is informed by best practices in supportive housing, emphasizing universal design, accessibility, and integration with local services and amenities.
