Each spring and summer, we welcome some of the most curious, clever, and mischievous patients to Millstone Wildlife Center—young raccoons in need of a second chance. Many arrive orphaned, injured, or displaced, relying completely on us for warmth, nourishment, and care.
Through our “Raise A Raccoon” campaign, you can be part of their journey from tiny, vulnerable babies to strong, independent wild animals ready for release.
On average, we care for and release around 25 baby raccoons each year. It costs approximately $500 to raise a single raccoon to release age. This includes specialized formula for their early weeks, vaccines and medications to keep them healthy, enrichment to encourage natural behaviors, proper housing, and the solid foods they need as they grow.
These bright little animals require not just nourishment, but opportunities to climb, explore, and develop the skills they’ll need to survive in the wild. Every detail matters.
